Weeklies launch campaign to celebrate good news

A campaign to celebrate good news stories has been launched by two sister weeklies.

The Exmouth Journal and Sidmouth Herald newspapers have both launched “Pride” campaigns to draw readers’ attention to positive stories in their areas.

The Archant titles have designed Pride in Exmouth and Pride in Sidmouth logos which are used to highlight good news stories.

Articles marked with the logos in the launch week include the story of a woman asking other dog-lovers to join her on a fundraising walk to support guide dogs, pictured below.

Devon group editor Phil Griffin said: “There is so much negativity around these days that we felt we should do our bit to highlight what is good in our towns.

“We feel there is much to celebrate each and every week – whether it’s a youngster raising money for charity or an incredible tale of triumph over adversity.

“So each time a reader sees the ‘Pride’ logo, they will know it’s marking an article which will make them glow inside with pride.”

Other articles marked with the logos have includeded ones headlined “Cycle marathon challenge for plucky 76-year-old Tony” and “Thank you for returning my purse”.
