Tickets for press ball sell out in record time

An annual press ball which aims to recognise the best journalism in the most northerly parts of Scotland has sold out in record time.

All 280 tickets for the Highlands and Islands Press Ball and Media Awards sold out within five days of going on sale.

The event, which will raise money for four local charities, will be held in Inverness on 7 February and brings together journalists from across the region, along with MPs, MSPs and civic leaders.

John Ross, chairman of the press ball and awards, said: “While media professionals in the Highlands and Islands can be geographically distant from one another, the communities they serve often share the same issues.

“Due to the size of the area it’s difficult for us to meet up with colleagues but once a year a growing number are making the effort. These are testing times for the industry so it is a welcome opportunity to bring people together and highlight our strengths.”

The deadline for entries to the awards is 27 November and for further information, click here.
