Scottish daily scoops six prizes at company awards

The Edinburgh Evening News is celebrating after winning six of the prizes on offer in a company awards scheme.

Publisher Johnston Press has introduced a new in-house awards scheme for its 26 Scottish titles which also include The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday.

Evening News journalist Gina Davidson won the story of the year accolade while Daniel Sanderson was named journalist of the year.

The paper also received the editorial design and innovation awards along with prizes for best use of social media and best use of digital.

Other multiple winners included the Stornaway Gazette, with the sports journalsist and trainee journalist prizes, and the Falkirk Herald, which won the community initiative and photographer awards.
