Pennines to get hyperlocal online TV station and mag

An online hyperlocal TV station and magazine are due to be launched next month in a bid to provide a community with a voice.

Burnley businessman Peter Macgregor has set up an online station for the Pennine Lancashire area, which will be called PLTV News.

The TV station will broadcast daily news bulletins from its website from April and will also distribute a free 82-page content-based glossy magazine to more than 40,000 selected households and businesses.

The region covered by the TV station and magazine covers the BB postcode, which includes Burnley, Pendle, Hyndburn, Rossendale, Blackburn and the Ribble Valley.

Peter, who is the managing director of PLTV News Ltd, said: “The primary reason for setting up the company was to provide the community with a voice.

“East Lancashire is usually ignored by the regional TV stations like the BBC and Granada unless there is big story here.

“After living round here for the past 20 years, I feel it’s time the people of Pennine Lancashire were given a quality news source that provides content specific to the area.”

He has already put more than £50,000 of his own money into the project and is looking for investors to back the company.

The company will employ a series of presenters and journalists who will report from around the area.

Its main source of income will come from advertising but also from offering corporate production work.
