Nominations open for health writing awards

Health writers from the regional press could be in with a chance of victory at this year’s Medical Journalists’ Association’s Winter Awards.

The awards, which are open to members and non-members of the MJA, are designed to reward outstanding health or medical writing including local campaigns and opinion pieces.

Nominations are now open for the 2013/14 awards which include the following categories:

• Medical science explained,
• Interview with a health or medical figure
• Column or opinion piece
• Excellence in journalistic skills
• Short medical science film
• Local health campaign
• Personal story

Winners will be announced at the ceremony on 30 January, in the Snow Room at the British Medical Association in Tavistock Square, London, to which all shortlisted entrants will be invited.
