Investigative journalism award opens for entries

An award which recognises the best investigative and campaigning journalism has opened for entries.

The Paul Foot Award is an annual prize set up by The Guardian and Private Eye in memory of the journalist of the same name who died in 2004.

The winning entry for 2013 will be awarded £5,000, with the runner-up entries receiving £1,000 when the award is presented at a ceremony next February.

Yorkshire Post journalist Rob Waugh was named the runner-up at this year’s ceremony for a series of investigations into high-ranking police officers and officials at both national and local level, while winner of the first prize was Andrew Norfolk of The Times.

Submissions for the award will be accepted for material published in a UK newspaper, magazine or website between 1st November 2012 and 31st October 2013.

Entries must be received by 12 November and for information on how to enter, click here.
