Entries open for Highlands media awards

An annual awards which aims to celebrate the best journalism in the most northerly parts of Scotland has opened for entries.

The Highlands and Islands Media Awards is calling for entries in a range of categories, which include the best young journalist, photographer, best use of digital media and newspaper of the year.

The winners of the awards will be announced at the annual Highlands and Islands Press Ball, which will be held on 7 February in Inverness.

At this year’s awards, West Highland Free Press journalist Murray Macleod was named the Journalist of the Year and the Newspaper of the Year title went to the Inverness Courier.

For the first time, entries for the awards have gone digital for most categories and the deadline for entries is 27 November at 5pm.
