Amnesty International launches annual media awards

Amnesty International has launched its annual Media Awards which aim to recognise the best UK journalism about human rights issues.

The charity’s 22nd annual awards will recognise the vital role of journalists and the risks they face in highlighting injustice around the world.

Journalists and photographers working for newspapers, magazines, TV, radio and digital can all enter the awards, by submitting work which was published or broadcast for the first time between 1 March 2012 and 28 February 2013.

The awards, to be held on 11 June, include a Nations and Regions award to recogise the best print or broadcast entries from Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the English regions.

Entry to this regional award and the Photojournalism category are free before 1 February, after which there is a £50 charge to enter before the deadline of 1 March.
