Regional daily editor chairs mayoral hustings

A regional daily is holding four hustings events where candidates for the upcoming mayoral elections will be quizzed.

The Bristol Post will hold the debates for its readers in the run-up to the election on 15 November, when the city will vote for its first directly-elected mayor.

Editor Mike Norton will chair the hustings events, which take place at venues around the city and aim to test the candidates’ knowledge of local issues.

He said: “They’ll be tough for the candidates. We won’t be giving them the questions in advance so they will have to show a real depth of knowledge about the city.”

The election will see 15 candidates bid to become Bristol’s directly-elected mayor.
