Newspaper joins hunt for missing youngster April

The North Wales Daily Post has joined the hunt for missing youngster April Jones by publishing a mock front page poster today.

Five-year-old April was seen getting into a stranger’s van near her home in Machynlleth, Mid-Wales, yesterday.

With detectives saying they are “increasingly concerned” for her safety, the Post has joined the frantic search for the youngster.

As well as today’s poster, designed to be downloaded from internet and displayed by members of the public, the paper is running a live blog with up-to-the-minute updates on the developing story.

Editor Alison Gow said:  “We created the poster of April, with the phone number for people, as people can download it off Facebook and Twitter and display it in their vehicles or homes if they wish.

“We’re also in constant conversation with readers online, as they ask for updates or leave goodwill messages for family. Along with everyone else we’re all just hoping for some good news.”

The Trinity Mirror owned title currently has Gwynedd reporter Hywel Trewyn and feature writer Rob Davies at the scene in Machynlleth as well as photographers Hadyn Iball and Robert Parry Jones.

Executive editor, digital Dan Owen and reporter Gary Porter are manning the rolling live blog, posting updates and liaising with readers.
