New publication to be launched on digital journalism

A new journal will be launched to examine how journalism has been affected by the digital age.

Professor Bob Franklin, from Cardiff University’s Journalism School, is the founder and editor of Digital Journalism, which will be published three times a year from next February.

The peer-reviewed journal aims to provide a forum for discussion and analysis on the changes in journalism brought about by digital technology, including citizen journalism, new forms of investigate journalism and social media.

Professor Franklin said: “Radical shifts in journalism are changing every aspect of the production, content and reception of news; and at a dramatic pace which has transformed ‘new media’ into ‘legacy media’ in barely a decade.”

The title will be published by Routledge and its editorial board includes former Independent editor Professor Ian Hargreaves, who is Chair of Digital Journalism at the university.
