Five jobs at risk as loss-making magazine axed

Johnston Press-owned Scotsman Publications is to close a loss-making monthly magazine supplement with the possible loss of up to five jobs.

The Pulse, which came free with flagship daily The Scotsman, is to cease publication from this month.

However bosses hope the five staff at risk of redundancy can be redeployed within the newspaper and its sister titles.

Managing director Andrew Richardson told HTFP:  “We are closing it becaue unfortunately it had become loss-making.  We hope to redeploy staff within Scotsman Publications.”

The Pulse was previously marketed as “a monthly, seasonal celebration of the very best Edinburgh has to offer”.

A formal consultation period involving the affected staff is due to be completed by 12 October.
