Regional publisher Archant has appointed a publishing director to oversee all four of its daily titles in East Anglia.
Bob Crawley, left, a former editor of the Norwich Evening News and Peterborough Evening Telegraph, was given the newly-created role in a restructure announced today.
The company said all four daily editors in Archant Anglia will report to Bob once he takes up the position in August.
It said his brief would be “to ensure that the Norfolk and Suffolk portfolio continues to please its audience whilst providing commercial clients with exactly the media environment they require.”
Bob’s other roles within Archant have included managing director of contract publishing division Archant Dialogue and also editorial director of Archant London.
The company has also created a new commercial director role covering the region, which will be filled by James Gurney, previously commercial director of Archant Suffolk.
Archant Anglia managing director Johnny Hustler said: “I am delighted to have completed the hiring of my senior team in Anglia. We now have experienced and skilled leaders in each function and on all platforms.”
The changes will also mean that Chris Moore, who joined Archant in 2011 as commercial director of Archant Norfolk, will be leaving the company.
Said Johnny: “I am really sorry to see Chris Moore leave. His family had not moved to Norfolk and a year after being in post he was still commuting from the North East, to where he has decided to return.
“This has been a challenging time for him and in these difficult circumstances he has done a great job for us.”
A shame to see Chris go – in sure he has a successful future ahead of him.

Retrograde move for Bob Crawley. Has he been pushed back to the sticks? Agree with Ethel re deckchair shuffling.

Hopefully this will mark the end of the stupid situation where you’ve got two highly-paid editors in Suffolk running two failing morning rags with exactly the same content!
