Deadline approaches to enter NCTJ awards

Time is running out for student and trainee journalists to enter an annual awards scheme run by the National Council for the Training of Journalists.

The Awards for Excellence are held to celebrate the best work by students on NCTJ-accredited courses and trainee journalists working towards the NCE with less than two years’ experience.

The awards, now in their fifth year, have a deadline of 14 September and there are five individual categories – for news journalism, sports journalism, top scoop/exclusive, features of the year, and images of the year.

There is also a special Chairman’s Award to recognise an individual’s outstanding contribution to high standards of journalism training and a new award for the best student publication.

All the winners will receive their prizes at the Journalism Skills Conference on 28 November and to enter the awards, click here.
