Northern Ireland daily the Belfast Telegraph has seen its sales fall by 9.2pc, according to the latest ABC report.

Sales for titles across Ireland were published today, ahead of the figures for regional newspapers across the rest of the UK, which are due to be released next week.

And they show that the province’s biggest-selling regional daily saw its circulation fall by 9.2pc to an average of 53,847 for the first six months of the year.

At the other regional daily titles, the Irish News saw its sales fall 3.6pc to 42,084, while the News Letter had a fall of 5.5pc to 22,198.

For the Sunday titles, the Belfast Telegraph’s sister title the Sunday Life saw its circulation decrease by 11.5pc to 48,746 and the Sunday Journal had a fall of 7.5pc to 2,375.

Out of the fully paid-for weeklies, the Ballymena Times was one of the few to record an increase in sales, with circulation up 6.7pc to 3,499, while the Tyrone Times saw an increase of 3.5pc to 3,564.
