Awards for young writers open for entries

An annual set of awards designed to encourage creative writing about horseracing are open for entries.

The Wills Writing Awards, started in 1993 in memory of journalist and amateur jockey Martin Wills are now in their 20th year.

There are three awards – for under 26s, under 19s and under 15s – and regional press journalists who don’t specialise in covering horseracing are eligible to enter.

The deadline for entries is 29 February and prizes totalling £3,000 are available.  More information on the awards website.
