A regional north east newspaper which boasts three million page impressions on its website each month has launched an app edition.

The Northern Echo’s iPhone and iPad app will condense the four editions of the newspaper into one package, containing local news pages from across the North-East and North Yorkshire.

An article on the Echo’s website describes it as an easy and cost-effective way to keep in touch with what is happening in the region, with an unrivalled blend of local, regional and national news and features.

It also has regular supplements, such as What’s On, Echo Memories and Weekend magazine.

The article went on: “No matter where you are in the world, the app delivers The Northern Echo to your screen in time for breakfast.

“We remain committed to producing a daily newspaper to be proud of, but our readers now have the opportunity to try an electronic version too.”

The Echo’s app is available from the iTunes app store on a month’s free trial and £4.99 a month after that.
