NCTJ wins award for staff development

The National Council for the Training of Journalists has achieved the highest national award possible for the way it develops and manages its staff.

It has achieved Investors in People Gold status which recognises best management practice and people development, following a detailed inspection in January.

Assessor Linda Simpson praised the NCTJ for its leadership capabilities, its development strategy and plans, the commitment to continuous improvement and approach to reward and recognition.

NCTJ chief executive Joanne Butcher said: “Everyone involved in the NCTJ is working hard to provide a world-class education and training system for journalists and the media. We are thrilled that these efforts and the dedication and professionalism of our team have been recognised with this award.”
