Now, what was the name of that newspaper?

News that two regional daily newspapers have  been awarded public money from the government’s Regional Growth Fund to help boost job creation in their areas is welcome recognition of the wider role of the local media.

But the handling of the announcement by the government’s communications arm, the Central Office of Information, left a little bit to be desired.

Its press release, pictured below, listed the ‘West Daily Press’ as one of the South West receipients of the growth fund.

This was not only the wrong newspaper title – Bristol’s morning daily is of course the Western Daily Press, but the wrong newspaper. The actual recipient of the fund is the Plymouth-based Western Morning News.
