Valentine’s date on offer with local press reporter

Single men looking for love may wish to head to Berkshire where a reporter is offering a Valentine’s date with her in exchange for money towards the Haiti earthquake relief effort.

The Royal Borough Observer is currently accepting donations to raise money to send over to the disaster struck Caribbean island.

Anyone who donates money to its online fundraising page or at the Observer’s office will be asked whether they wish to go into the hat for a date with its reporter Inderdeep Bains.

But a slap-up meal with the 26-year-old is not all that’s on offer to the winner, as the bumper prize loot also includes a free hair cut and spa day, a crack at ice rink go-karting and tickets to Ascot races and Reading FC.

The minimum donation is £20, would-be suitors must be 18 or over and the winner will be drawn in two weeks’ time ahead of the 12 February date.

Last year Inderdeep’s colleague Callum Brodie took part in a similar Valentine’s date fundraiser for a local hospice.

While in February 2008 another Berkshire journalist, the Maidenhead Advertiser’s Nick Meakin, was put up for auction by his bosses and attracted just one bid of £350 towards a local cancer charity.

Big vague. If I handed over my 20 smackers and won, would the odd kiss be forthcoming from the lovely Inderdeep ? And where would I put my colostomy bag and false teeth if things started to get really steamy ?

God, I can’t stand miserable old hacks like “Subbed Out”. Well done Inderdeep.
