Teen-run news website signs-up First Minister

A news website run by teenagers has landed a fresh coup by persuading Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond to write for it.

NND Scotland, a news site and photo wire service staffed by a four-person team all under the age of 19, went live in January.

In an exclusive article to be published on the site today, Mr Salmond will explain why the SNP-led government in Scotland believes young people should back its proposal for a referendum on independence.

Editor Scott Campbell said: “We contacted Mr Salmond’s press office a few months ago requesting a guest post, and they were more than happy to help.

“In the run up to the general election, it’s good to see that Alex Salmond is using new mediums to connect with voters and explain political process. We are currently working with other political party leaders to receive articles.”

As well as 14-year-old Scott, the website’s other staff are Nathan Adam, also 14, Kyle Thornton, 15, and Conor McKay, 18.

The foursome have provided pictures for a number of newspapers and websites, both national and local.
