Senior Midlands newspaper executive quits

The managing director of a Johnston Press-owned newspaper publisher in the Midlands has quit her job.

Amanda Davidson-Young left her post as MD of East Midlands Newspapers Ltd last week after 18 years in the industry.

She had been responsible for 17 newspaper titles and associated websites across EMNL including the Peterborough Evening Telegraph and associated weeklies.

Last year her role expanded when EMNL was merged with another JP subsidiary, Lincolnshire Newspapers.

Johnston Press has made no official comment on Ms Davidson-Young’s departure, however sources within the company confirmed to HTFP that she had left.

It means EMNL will now be getting both a new MD and a new weeklies group editor.

As reported on HTFP yesterday, Tim Robinson is stepping up from his role as managing editor of the company’s Leicestershire and Lincolnshire weeklies to take charge of the Halifax Courier.
