New editorial supremo for London weeklies

A new editorial director has been appointed to run a series of weekly newspapers and websites in the capital.

Archant London has appointed former Norwich Evening News editor Bob Crawley, left, to oversee ambitious expansion plans for its 29 weeklies and 30 community web portals.

It marks a return to newspapers after ten years for Bob, also a previous editor of the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.

He moved into a digital role with Archant in 2000 and was later responsible for launching the award-winning EDP24 and Pink’Un websites.

More recently he has been been managing director of Archant’s Norwich-based contract and customer publishing arm, Archant Dialogue.

Said Bob: “Leading the team at Archant Dialogue has been a real joy and a highlight of my career, but the challenge of getting back into a hands-on local news editorial role within Archant at a time of great change within the newspaper industry proved irresistible.”

Archant London MD Enzo Testa said: “We are delighted that Bob is joining the Archant London team, his wealth of experience in newspapers, magazines and digital, will underpin the expansion plans we have for London.”

Johnny Hustler, MD of the Archant Lifestyle division which includes Dialogue, added: “Bob has done a fantastic job and we have seen Dialogue successfully grow and consolidate its position as a customer services agency of the highest quality, with a loyal client base including Harley Davidson, Saab and British Eventing.

“Dialogue’s Norwich based team are highly skilled and specialise in delighting customers. We will be forever appreciative of the work Bob has done to establish Dialogue as a consistently profitable and strategically important part of Archant.”
