Media courses for new 'world class' base unveiled

A university has unveiled the list of degree courses which will be taught at a “world-class” new media base from next year.

The University of Salford says 39 undergraduate and postgraduate courses, including journalism ones, and more than 1,500 students will be taught at MediaCityUK from next September.

State-of-the-art facilities for teaching and research will be housed in the university’s new development at Salford Quays, such as HD TV Studios and a digital media and performance lab.

The university’s new site is located next to BBC buildings at MediaCityUK, where a host of other creative media organisations are also based.

Courses which will move there from next year include BA and MA courses in Journalism, along with a range of other media-related courses.

University of Salford Vice-Chancellor, Professor Martin Hall said: “The courses which we’ll be teaching at MediaCityUK will give Salford students an experience like no other.

“World class facilities and a huge industry hub on the doorstep mean that students on these courses will have the best possible start to their careers in media.”
