GB hockey star to present EDF Energy Awards

A British Olympic hockey player will be the guest of honour at the EDF Energy Media Awards 2009 tomorrow.

GB player Ben Marsden, who represented the country at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, will be handing out the trophies and cheques at the annual ceremony, run in association with HoldtheFrontPage.

The GB team beat Korea in a play-off match at the Games to be placed fifth overall in the 2008 Olympic competition.

Ben was also part of the England men’s hockey squad that took home gold from the 2009 EuroHockey Championships which were held in Amsterdam last August.

The 30-year-old has 31 caps for Great Britain and 46 for England, currently plays for Surbiton Hockey club in the England Hockey League National Premier Division and is also a hockey coach.

Journalists and broadcasters from across the East of England’s press and media will gather for the annual awards which this year are being held at the SAS Radisson Hotel, at Stansted Airport.
