Exhibition showcases war photographer's work

An exhibition of pictures by an award-winning war photographer is now on display.

‘Shaped by War’ features shots by Don McCullin who worked as an overseas correspondent for the Sunday Times for 18 years and covered the Vietnam War and Northern Ireland conflict.

The exhibition, featuring some images in display for the first time, runs until 13 June at the Imperial War Museum North and admission is free.

Scottish newspaper publisher DC Thomson has launched a digital edition of one of its daily titles using PageSuite software.

Guardian News and Media has appointed a new head of communications.

Nick Allen, a former press secretary at the British Embassy in Washington, will cover both internal and external PR at GNM.

The appointment follows the exit of head of PR Julie Taylor and the departure later this year of head of internal communications Nicole Dempster.


The National Union of Journalists has launched a website on how to report the British National Party.

Called ‘Reporting the BNP – A Practical Guide for Journalists’, it aims to be a resource for journalists and gives background information on the party, its members and policies among others.

A community and social project run by City of York Council has been hosting ‘citizen journalism’ workshops.

The project, called ‘Explore Media’, is aimed at helping community groups and individuals in York develop media skills.

It is being funded by a £85,000 government grant as part of its ‘Transformation Fund for the Learning Revolution’.
