College takes media course on the Ho Chi Minh trail

A journalism college has launched a new masters course in media communications management – in Vietnam.

The initiative by the University of Stirling is designed to support the country’s rapidly expanding media sector.

Created by the university’s department of film, media and journalism, the Ho Chi Minh Masters programme will be run in partnership with Vietnam National University.

Principal professor Christine Hallett said: “The new MSc in Media Communications Management will provide important support to Vietnam’s rapidly expanding media industries and demonstrates Stirling’s commitment to deliver high quality education abroad.”

Dr Matthew Hibberd, co-director of the new course, added: “In-country delivery of postgraduate programmes will become more important in future years, and the Department of Film, Media and Journalism is delighted to bring postgraduate media and communications education to Vietnam.”

Vietnam National University in Ho Chi Minh City is the larger of Vietnam’s two national universities.
