Yorkshire daily takes campaign to the big screen

A regional daily newspaper organised a film premiere as part of a recession-busting campaign.

Local business and council leaders gathered to enjoy the red carpet launch of the eight-minute film which is part of the York Means Business campaign, run by The Press.

The film is aimed at bringing jobs and investment to York and is the latest part of the initiative launched in the spring to promote and support local businesses as they battle to survive the recession.

The city’s inward investment agency, york-england.com, will use the film to persuade companies to locate their businesses in York.

City of York Council leader Andrew Waller said the film would help York “get out there and sell the benefits of the city in a highly competitive world”.

Lord Mayor John Galvin said: “It’s a wonderful example of the media working with the local authority.”

The film is now being sent to businesses inquiring about relocation to York and can also be viewed on The Press website.
