Scottish daily to regain dedicated editor

The hunt is on for new editor at a regional daily – just ten months after it joined two sister titles under one editor-in-chief.

Donald Martin has been in command of Newsquest’s three Glasgow-based newspapers – The Herald, Evening Times and Sunday Herald – since December following the resignation of Herald editor Charles McGhee last summer.

But today the company began advertising for a “dynamic and innovative” editor for the Evening Times who will report to Mr Martin.

Managing editor Tom Thomson told HTFP: “The editor-in-chief is in charge of the strategic direction of the group.

“The Evening Times editor will be in charge of the Evening Times brand and management of the title, one which is very focussed on Glasgow.

“They will be representing the title within the Glasgow community while being part of the group operation.”

Last month The Herald and Sunday Herald launched a new-look joint website with a similar makeover expected for eveningtimes.co.uk before the end of the year.
