New editor for Midlands weeklies series

A group of Midlands weeklies owned by Johnston Press has a new editor at the helm.

Clare Brennan has stepped up from her role as content editor to be the new chief at the Buckingham Advertiser and Review.

The 30-year-old first joined the Advertiser and Review ten years ago as deputy news editor and has since held a number of positions including deputy editor.

Prior to joining the Advertiser and Review, she was a sub-editor with the Northampton Chronicle and Echo and a reporter with the Harborough Mail.

Clare says she is looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead.

“I am thrilled and immensely proud to be taking over as editor of the Advertiser and Review and can’t wait to get involved in all the fantastic work which goes on in communities across the region,” said Clare.

“I have a number of exciting projects planned for our titles, but we’ll also keep on doing what we do best, reporting the news that matters most to our readers, campaigning for their interests and providing everyone with a platform to debate the day’s most important issues.”

Buckingham? Midlands? Gah!

Yes, Soopah – funny place the east Midlands. Buckingham is about on a north-south level with such places as Chipping Norton (Oxon) and Tewkesbury,(Glos) which makes it Midlands. But other places in Bucks, such as Amersham, are almost London – it’s a long, long county. And Royston, which is in Hertfordshire, although only just, is actually north of Hereford, which is definitely west Midlands.
