MEN could be crowned North West's best

The Manchester Evening News could be named the North West’s top newspaper for the second year running.

The city daily has been shortlisted in the best newspaper category by north-west media website How-Do after taking home the crown at last year’s in augural event.

Its website manchestereveningnews.co.uk has also been put forward in the best website category.

Judges picked their way through just under 200 entries over the 12 prize categories which cover advertising, radio, PR and TV programmes.

The panel included journalist and political commentator Jim Hancock, former editor of Newcastle’s Evening Chronicle Alison Hastings and Philip Graf CBE, former chief executive of Trinity Mirror and deputy chairman of Ofcom.

The awards ceremony takes place on 30 April at Manchester United FC and the guest speakers are BBC North director Peter Salmon and country director at Google UK Mark Howe.
