Gala dinner to mark college's 10th birthday

A journalism college is to mark its tenth anniversary next month by holding a celebration dinner in aid of The Journalists’ Charity.

NoSWeat, the London-based independent journalism training college, celebrates its first decade on 21 October.

It is staging a gala dinner at Westminster’s St Ermin’s Hotel with former Home Secretary Charles Clarke as keynote speaker and former Observer editor Donald Trelford among the guests.

Tickets cost £60 with all proceeds going to the charity which supports journalists in times of need.

The evening celebrations are expected to attract an audience of up to 200 from local and national newspapers, magazines, trade press, broadcasting and PR, among them a number of former noSWeat trainees.

College co-founder Stephen Ward said: “NoSWeat has trained hundreds of journalists, many of whom have gone on to great things in the media, and we are very proud of what we have achieved.

“We are now looking forward to our second decade of not only training journalists for newspapers but for magazines too.”

Mr Trelford, who edited The Observer from 1975 to 1993, will be presenting awards to former noSWeaters in a range of categories.

Companies and organisation who have pledged support for the evening include Fullers Brewery, The London Eye, The Spectator and Private Eye.

There are still a few tickets available. Anyone wanting to book a seat should call 020 7490 2006 or email [email protected].
