Daily signs another sports club sponsorship deal

A Northcliffe daily is continuing its partnerships with the local sporting community after announcing a new sponsorship deal.

The South Wales Evening Post is now the official media partner of Ospreys rugby union club and will see its masthead emblazoned across the back of players’ shorts this season.

The daily will also benefit from first publication of exclusive interviews and news from the club as well as giveaways and competitions for prizes not available elsewhere.

This follows July’s announcement that the Evening Post is sponsoring the shirts and shorts of Swansea City FC’s players.

South West Wales Media MD Blanche Sainsbury said: “The Ospreys are committed to working with the local community to champion the club.

“We are delighted to be working with the Ospreys and have planned some very exciting initiatives and promotions which will benefit our readers.”

Ospreys strategic development manager Paul Thorburn added: “This partnership brings together two much-loved community assets – the Ospreys and the Post – and will help ensure our message reaches more fans than ever before.”

I am surprised this story is being run without any critical comment, but then that is what this post is about.
A lovely deal for the Ospreys who have now “ensured OUR message, reaches more fans than ever.”
Pity the poor South Wales EP rugby writer who, presumably, will not be allowed to do his job as a journalist i.e scrutinise, question and cast comment.
