Celebrity lots at Evening Post fundraising auction

An East Midlands daily is hosting an auction of items donated by celebrities as part of its cancer fundraising appeal.

Among the lengthy roll call of goodies on offer are signed CDs and DVDs, concert tickets, sports shirts, photos and books.

Lots include a DVD of the James Bond classic Goldfinger, signed by ‘Pussy Galore’ Honor Blackman, autographed CDs from Dame Shirley Bassey and Bon Jovi and a meet and greet with comedian Ken Dodd after his show in Nottingham.

Proceeds from the auction will go to the Nottingham Evening Post’s Maggie’s appeal which is aiming to raise £500,000 towards a £3m cancer care centre, to be built in the ground’s of Nottingham’s City Hospital.

A Maggie’s Centre offers information, advice and help to anyone affected by cancer with centres already up and running in Edinburgh, London, Fife, Glasgow, Dundee and the Highlands.

The NEP’s current fundraising total stands at just over £450,000 with work due to begin on building the centre next year.
