Trio of daily newspapers shortlisted for north-west media celebration

Three daily newspapers have all been shortlisted for two prizes in the inaugural How-Do awards.

The Liverpool Daily Post, Manchester Evening News and Lancashire Evening Post are all up for best daily newspaper and best website.

Other candidates shortlisted for best website include Channel 4’s Hollyoaks site and the BBC’s online Liverpool ’08 coverage.

The Stockport Express, Trafford Metro and Crain’s Manchester Business have been chosen for the best weekly newspaper shortlist.

The awards celebrate the cream of the media industry in north-west England with April’s prize-giving ceremony to be held at Manchester United’s stadium Old Trafford.

There are also prizes for best magazine, radio station and TV programme as well as wider media awards such as best PR agency.

The judging panel for the 14 prizes included former Krypton Factor presenter Gordon Burns, former BBC broadcaster Alice Morrison and political commentator and journalist Jim Hancock.
