Third wave of hyperlocal community news websites launched

The Evening Times in Glasgow yesterday launched its third wave of hyperlocal community websites.
Twelve local websites, available through www.eveningtimes.co.uk, were added to the newspaper’s existing network of 24, taking the total tally to 36. The existing websites have proved so popular it is already preparing for the launch of the next 12.


Trinity Mirror’s weekly Scottish business newspaper, Business7, has launched its own senior appointments and executive recruitment website, called www.b7appointments.co.uk.
The site can be accessed through the Business7.co.uk website and also through jobs website Scotcareers.co.uk.

A £4,500 grant from Newsquest parent company Gannett’s community fund is helping a project to recycle old bikes in Glasgow, where the company runs the Evening Times.
The idea is that parents would be able to buy reconditioned bikes for children for under £30.
