Save Sven campaign goes multimedia with the Manchester Evening News

The Manchester Evening News has launched a multimedia campaign to Save Sven.

Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson looks set to be given the push at the end of this season, two years before his contract is up and despite one of the club’s most successful seasons.

So now the local newspaper is calling on fans to make their voices heard across a variety of media.

The back page was taken up with a Save Sven poster today, which the paper is urging fans to hold aloft at the match against Liverpool on Sunday, the penultimate game of the season.

The idea is for the protest to be captured on live television and beamed to Thailand where City’s owner Thaksin Shinawatra is expected to be watching.

There is also an online campaign to let Eriksson continue his successful stint as boss.

Fans can also show their support by:

  • Posting a message of support at the online campaign page;
  • Casting a vote in the MEN web poll;
  • E-mailing the campaign page to a friend;
  • Sharing the page to at least one of the bookmarking websites;
  • Sending the URL of reader blogs or campaign support pages to the MEN;
  • Following the campaign and have a say via “twitter”;
  • Sending in a picture of themselves with the Save Sven poster to the MEN’s Flickr group.
