Newsquest man killed in M6 crash

A systems developer from Newsquest’s North West division has died in hospital following a serious collision on the M6 last week.

Rob Woods, 35, from Warrington, was driving a silver Vauxhall Astra when it collided with a 40ft HGV lorry on the southbound carriageway of the M6.

The father-of-one was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital suffering from serious spinal injuries where he died on Monday.

He leaves a daughter, his mum and dad Marilyn and John and sister Suzie.

Rob was a regional systems developer for Newsquest North West, owners of the Preston and Leyland Citizen series.

Jan Lever, managing director of Newsquest North West, said: “I won’t need to explain just how many people in our business are feeling following Rob’s tragic death earlier this week.

“Rob was always smiling and happy to help – one of the nicest people you are ever likely to meet. His loss has hit many people very hard.”

Rob’s parents, Marilyn and John, have requested donations to Preston’s Critical Care Unit.
