Newspaper publisher tempts tourists with new visitor website

A regional newspaper publisher has launched a new website for tourists.

Trinity Mirror has developed northwales.co.uk as a guide for the thousands of visitors and holiday makers who flock to the region every year.

The project was led by Daily Post editor Rob Irvine and north Wales advertising director Denise Roberts.

Rob said: “We agreed from the start to break down the traditional invisible barrier between editorial and advertising.

“So the digital team – account managers and journalists – share a desk and share their ideas to develop and constantly improve the site for visitors and advertisers.”

Denise added: “Tourism is hugely important to the north Wales economy.

“This site enables us to reach the tourism advertising market like never before.

“The feedback from clients is very positive. They believe that northwales.co.uk will be hugely beneficial for tourism in our region.”

The site contains listings of the area’s hotels and tourist attractions alongside interactive maps, reviews and photo guides.

There are also audio clips to help visitors learn basic Welsh phrases.

The region’s tourist industry is estimated to be worth £1.5b per year and employs 35,000 people.
