New journalism studies grant worth nearly £10,000 up for grabs

One of the UK’s leading media groups is offering journalism students a new bursary worth up to £10,000.

The scheme is being run at Leeds Trinity and All Saints College by The Scott Trust, owners of the Guardian Media Group.

It is open to all students applying to the postgraduate bimedia (radio and TV) course and is an addition to the existing grants the Trust already offers in print and online journalism.

The beneficiary will receive their tuition fees, a £5,000 allowance and have the opportunity of work experience within GMG which incorporates the Guardian, The Observer and Guardian Online.

Richard Horsman, Leeds Trinity’s broadcast course leader, said: “We’re delighted to have been selected by the Scott Trust to be the recipient of a bursary for one of our trainees.

“We share the Trust’s commitment to encouraging diversity in newsrooms and we will work hard with our partners to find a candidate who will really benefit from the opportunity offered.”

Other grants are also available through the Scott Trust at City University (London), University of London and the University of Sheffield.

Applicants must be a graduate and a permanent resident of the UK.

Deadline is March 9 – for further details visit the Scott Trust website.
