CN Group’s Nick Turner has been co-opted to the board of directors of the Society of Editors.

Nick is head of digital content development for the Cumbrian-based publisher.

He was previously deputy editor for the group’s News and Star and Cumberland News titles.

Nick helped the newspapers win regional and national recognition including a Press Gazette award for the News and Star when it became the first regional paper to introduce bloggers to its website.

Nick, (40), also organises the Digital Editors Network in conjunction with the University of Central Lancashire journalism department which gives managers of media websites the chance to meet and share experiences.

His appointment to the board will be subject to approval by members at the society’s AGM during the annual conference in Bristol in November.
