Regional newspaper publisher Trinity Mirror has appointed a new digital director.

Chris Bunyan, formerly director of portal management for Virgin Media, will be responsible for leading the growth and development of Trinity Mirror’s regional digital business.

Chris said: “I’m excited to be joining Trinity Mirror and look forward to leading the next stage of growth in digital reach and revenues across the Trinity Mirror regional portfolio.”

Chris will report to Georgina Harvey, MD Trinity’s regional division, and David Black, group director of digital publishing.

Georgina said: “We’re delighted to appoint Chris to lead our work in the regional digital arena.

“His appointment will contribute significantly to our goal of becoming a regional multimedia company of scale.”

David said: “We already have a high calibre of talent within the business and will continue to recruit the best in class which is highlighted by Chris’ appointment.

“He brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge of the marketplace and his appointment demonstrates our commitment to accelerating our digital development.”

Chris will take up his new role at the end of April.
