Football journalist scores new role in PR

A Premiership football writer is moving on to pastures new after covering Blackburn Rovers for eight years.

But Andy Neild, from the Lancashire Telegraph, won’t be severing all ties with the club as his new role with Lancashire firm PAPR will involve doing some media work for Rovers.

Andy, 33, told HoldtheFrontPage: “I’ll be doing quite a bit with Rovers, assisting the press office on match days and writing for the programme.

“Part of the new job will involve Blackburn Rovers but my main responsibility will be business development across all the clients.

“I’ve been doing Rovers for quite a while and it’s been a great experience but I fancied a change and a new challenge, plus a better work life balance.

“I have a young family now and that’s a big factor.”

Just two weeks ago Andy beat everyone to the post by being the first to announce the appointment of Paul Ince as Rovers’ new boss.

The scoop, published 36 hours prior to the club’s official announcement, came after weeks of frenetic speculation.

Andy starts his new role on August 11, just in time for the new season.

Andy’s old job is now being advertised on HoldtheFrontpage – for more information click here.
