First run sells out for Echo celebration of the local coastline

A new book from the Bournemouth Daily Echo and the Dorset Echo proved so popular that it sold out within days.

Local people and others from as far away as France and New Zealand snapped up the 1,500 copies of dorset coast so quickly that a further 3,000 will be printed shortly.

The 176-page full-colour book is packed with photos of the spectacular landscape that includes much of the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site. It was designed by Bournemouth Daily Echo graphic journalist John Nesbitt.

The journey in photos, mostly taken by Echo photographers, covers the entire Dorset coast from Chewton Bunny to Lyme Regis, from craggy cliffs to its golden beaches.

The glossy images in the A4 landscape format book are accompanied by fascinating facts about each section.

More than 250 orders were received prior to publication last month. dorset coast was sold exclusively from Daily Echo and Dorset offices or via their websites and from a local book store.

“It has proved a winner with everyone from local residents and ex-residents to visitors who love the county and people planning a holiday here,” said Daily Echo editor Neal Butterworth.

“The reprint aims to satisfy the many others who have said they would love a copy, too.”
