Two leave training body's photographic board

Yorkshire Post picture editor Ian Day and Associated Press picture editor Martin Cleaver have left their roles at the National Council for the Training of Journalists.

They were part of the photography board and helped the NCTJ develop its photography courses and qualifications.

Neither would comment on their departure, but their decision follows the appointment and subsequent dropping of Andy Bull after a past conviction for downloading child porn was uncovered.

He was to head the training organisation’s latest consultation as it makes decisions on the way forward for photojournalism courses.

The NCTJ declined to comment on the latest development.

The ongoing consultation involves asking editors, picture editors, photographers and trainers for their views, and as a starting point new drafts for its photography qualifications have been produced.

It was launched in response to the digital age, which now sees reporters often taking routine pictures and readers sending in photos via mobile phones.
