A number of special awards have been made from the National Council for the Training of Journalists’ photographic exams this year, with Jane Barlow from the Derby Telegraph – who passed in May – being named Fuji Photographer of the Year.

Steve Haywood, of the Coventry Evening Telegraph, won the South Wales Argus Prize for the best picture spread.
