The York Evening Press is placed equal third with an increase in sales, by 0.67 per cent, to 42,546.

Evening Press editor Liz Page said today: “Pleasingly, this is our seventhconsecutive ABC increase and these figures include a growth in activelypurchased sale.

“Retention rates from canvassing are excellent, reflecting the right balance of local news, community campaigns and entertainment.

“Journalists have worked very hard, particularly during last autumn’sdevastating floods, to make the paper a success.”
