A Dorset travel agency couldn’t fill a “dream job”… until the Daily Echo came to the rescue.

The hard work included lounging on beaches, trekking with tigers and soaking up Latin culture.

Worldwide Holidays Direct spent 12 months trying to find someone wanting to do it.

But as soon as the Bournemouth newspaper carried a story on the “dream job nobody wanted”, the Poole firm’s phone lines were jammed.

The paper’s Krissy Lloyd penned the appealing piece and then went out with a photographer to illustrate the item with her being snapped lounging on the beach sipping a cocktail – in the middle of winter!

Within 48 hours the firm had received 500 inquiries by post, phone and e-mail for the job, which involves being paid to go on holidays and then coming back to sell the idea on to a new group of would-be world travellers.

“I was so surprised that in a year there was virtually no interest,”said holiday firm director Colette Dickens.

“But now we have had so many applications that we can really pick and choose. I can’t thank the Echo enough.”
