Wiltshire steps up to deputy editor at Bath

Paul Wiltshire has been appointed deputy editor of the Bath Chronicle.

He replaces John McCready, who recently left to become editor-in-chief at the Courier Media Group in Tunbridge Wells.

Paul, (43), is the paper’s current news editor, and has been with the Chronicle for 12 years after previously working in Exeter, Torquay and Swindon.

Due to his long association on the news desk he will continue to head up the newsgathering operation and will add the title of head of news to his deputy editor role.

Paul said: “Although it is one of the smallest papers of its kind, the Chronicle has always punched above its weight.

“I am very proud and very excited to be playing a bigger part in its future.”

Editor Sam Holliday said he was delighted to have been able to promote Paul to this new position.

He said: “I have enormous respect for Paul both personally and professionally and I know he is very well respected in our news room for his integrity, enthusiasm and his passion for the job.

“He also has a great sense of humour and excellent people-skills – both of which I regard as very important tools in the often crazy world of the regional press.”

  • The Bath Chronicle has an average daily circulation of 12,330 (ABC, Mon to Friday, July to Dec 2006).
