War-torn Luton revisited

A book featuring reports from the Luton Herald and Post during the Second World War is being reproduced.

Luton at War was originally published in 1947 and includes stories and on-the-spot pictures contributed by reporters and photographers from the Luton News, as the paper was then called.

Wartime censorship had prevented many of the details being published until hostilities had ended and the articles give readers an insight into life in Luton at that time.

The book has been published in two parts, with the second part being held for publication next autumn.

Readers can buy the book from the newspaper’s office in the town centre.
